5 Tips On Providing The Best Candidate Experience

2 min read

Convincing someone to join your ranks is not as easy as it may seem. Most of the time, HR personnel wrack their brains on thinking how they can get the best candidates and how they will be able to persuade a qualified applicant to join the team.

The key to this is providing the candidates the best screening experience. This might sound new to some people, but this concept has been around for quite some time. If you are having a hard time convincing qualified candidates to accept your job offer, here are some ideas that you might consider:

Treat them with respect

Applicants are like prospective business partners. You need to convince them to join your team so they could execute your vision and action plan. The difference between the two is, you need the expertise and skills of the former, while you need the financial support of the latter. But both need to be treated with equal respect. A top executive recruitment company said that to persuade potential candidates, they should feel respected and valued the moment they opened the door of your workplace. So always greet them cordially and attend to their needs. As much as possible, meet with them on schedule.

Manage their expectations

Some applicants probably have their expectations set the moment they set foot to your office. You will either meet their expectations or not. To prevent disappointments, you need to manage their expectations early on. You need to tell them about the job description and what the job entails. Setting their expectations would help you to manage their performance and for them to know the scope and limitations of the job, should they decided to accept the offer.

Be transparent

Some recruiters try to hide the imperfections of the company to persuade potential candidates. But in the long run, they would soon find out that it is not what they signed up for. It would be best to be honest from the start so they will not feel betrayed and conned. If they have questions about the salary, answer them truthfully.

Be communicative

One of the reasons why some candidate get turned off on accepting offers is because there might be a falling off somewhere. If the management is taking too long to decide, be sure to give them an update on the status of their application.
